With a sensor cleaning, the technician starts by checking the functions of the camera and attached lens. Before we start cleaning, we take a photo of the sensor to see where the dust and debris on the sensor are. Images are shot at f/22.

The cleaning process starts by externally cleaning the camera body and lens. This way, we don’t introduce any new dust or debris. We then clean the inside of the mirror box, which consists of the mirror box, mirror, focusing screen, and sensor.

We print out a before and after image of the sensor and update the firmware if needed.

The sensor cleaning service is a great general check-up for your camera and lens! We recommend that you get your camera sensor cleaned a couple of times a year or more, depending on the frequency of use or after returning from dusty or sandy environments, such as the coast or desert.

Our normal turnaround time for sensor cleaning is typically 3-5 days. If you have a particular turnaround time that you need, we are happy to work with you.
